Lennart and Stig and I are very firm in each other’s opinion. I think there are most artists in Röstånga, Lennart claims that there are most in Konga and Stig says that there are even more in Ask and some are in Billinge and another that there are most in Stockamöllan. It’s really nice that there are so many. Not everyone is a painter either. Today, there are also several rooms where art is displayed. On the one hand, there is the large permanent collection in Röstånga Gästis, where the largest collection Per Gummeson is located. It is actually the largest at all. Not even Malmö Museum’s is as large as Gästi’s collection. But it is clear that they have other things as well. Art is shown in Röstånga art gallery, which is really good and interesting. Maybe a little badly used. It’s Cafe´ Fenix, which almost always has an exhibition.

This summer there are two halls, art galleries, that I have been to exhibitions in. The first was parts of the group Primavera, which for a large part of the summer showed mainly oil and acrylic paintings. The exhibition space was the National Park Centers Turtistbyrån in Röstånga It was a large exhibition. There were about ten exhibitors, of which I chose to talk to a couple of three. They are all from our immediate surroundings. The second exhibition – with people from the same area – used Galleri Ekbacken in Bonnarp as an exhibition space.

Sadly, I had to limit the number of exhibitors mentioned and I actually had to resort to a dubious method for this choice. I have started from the proximity to my home. And what other method would be more correct. Should I judge the jury and go on some form of quality in the art or even the age of the artists, or how enlightened everyone is. Yes, I can actually find any number of criteria. Now it was distance and within 500 meters I found, within 1000 meters there were already too many exhibitors. I chose these seven: Siv Arvelid, Jonas Dahlqvist and Inger Johnsson, Stefan Karlsson, Lisbeth Lindkvist, Kjerstin Olsson and finally Judith Wennerlund. Then there is this with the column space. Split space and Cubare travel. In other words, there have been further reductions in the number. This choice meant that several techniques are included, but the most common is acrylic painting. Other techniques will be included in the text.

It is 18 years since Anders and Siv Arvelid moved to Korea. Then Siv had a long experience of image creation from early childhood, behind her. This interest was strengthened during the study period, not least at the seminar in Kristianstad. Drawing was also for many children, Siv met during his teaching career, of course, highlights of life.

Coming to Korea, Siv met a female artist, who was Swedish. With her, Siv started painting. She then continued to study painting with various Korean artists. Siv developed his own technology. This technique involves tearing paper of different quality, color and thickness. The paper is attached to the canvas with acrylic paint. The paper is a Korean paper “Hanji” made from the bark of the Mulberry Tree. The finished painting has a relief-like character where the surfaces are also processed with, for example, charcoal and pastel colors. It is such a painting, as picture 1. shows. Siv Arvelid has participated in many exhibitions in both Korea and Sweden. She also sells at all exhibitions, mainly at the solo exhibitions, while the group exhibitions do not provide income with good experience and friendship.

In strict alphabetical order, it will be Jonas Dahlqvist’s turn. Together with his partner Inger Johnsson, Jonas shares his interest in raku firing of ceramics. He himself paints in a spontaneous tradition, both lyrically and epically. He exhibited both types of art at the Ekbacken gallery in Bonnarp, a couple of weekends before the autumn came. The paintings I have seen are very appealing, but here only two figurines of horses are shown. It is a ceramic process with double firings and after the second firing there is a reduction of the glaze in an organic material. In this way, you can, in fact, get the metal in the glaze free of oxide and very beautifully shiny. Inger succeeded with the feat of getting metallic copper on the inside of the mold in a raku-burnt piece. Usually, an appealing crackling of the glaze occurs in this procedure. There are also some raku-burnt masks on the plot on Solgatan. Can it even be called public art? In ceramics, Inger and Jonas work together.

Stefan Karlsson and Lisbeth Lindkvist work together in the same way. In both the Dahlqvist / Johnsson case and Karlsson / Lindvist, it is the women who have taken the initiative for the artistic activity. This has meant a number of opportunities to do interesting things together. I have not encountered this kind of interest before and it will be really good.

Since on the next visit I got with me a co-produced painting, to which Stefan Karlsson has made the layout and Lisbeth Lindqvist the details and finish, I can also follow the rule of correct letter order here. I like that painting. This is what ripe peas look like and the stems and leaves really show the growth power of the pea plant. Both spouses come from Lund and share the interest with the writer for the Museum of Sketches. It is both fun and educational to walk around in that museum. Lisbeth has been painting for 15, 20 years and has taken drawing and painting courses starting at Skånska målarskolan. They also take part in an exhibition every other year in Germany, which is a big event. Then you can also sit in front of the easel part of the time and enjoy concentrating on your painting.

Stefan’s cityscape is a symbolic image with the entire social ranking of the city. The drawing is already safe and the colors are simple and clear, as on modernist paintings. Lisbeth’s cornucopia is based on a very old picture idea in a new vintage. The colors are simple and clear in a modernist way. It’s really very interesting.

There are currently two artists running art school activities in our area, Jörgen Salmose and Susanne Jardeback. Billingekeramik also has art activities, arts and crafts. Those presented above spend part of their time on art courses. These are often courses with 8 to 10 opportunities per semester and with individual studies in between. Diligent practice, this is what art studies look like around Europe. Several of those presented above have implemented this. On the other hand, the close contact with like-minded people does not seem to be general. So it can seem isolating. There do not seem to be the cafes and restaurants where people can meet after work and study. There also does not seem to be a need for cafes with generous credits, which was the hallmark of the artist cafes in Paris in the past. There also seems to be a lack of simple showrooms.

But this is certainly a different story.

It was good that I managed to find the exhibitions both in the National Park Center in Röstånga and in galleries, which are in the framework workshop I use in Bonnarp. During the summer, both of these premises have had exhibitions with artists who live in the area. For a long time, these have attended courses with local course leaders, alternating with courses with other educators. The exhibitors have lived here between 1 and 4 centuries. Someone as long as me. There is no place where I lived anymore. And after 40 years, I discover that nowadays those interested in art are greater than the interest in literature. It feels weird and dizzying. Or is it simply the case that there are correspondingly writers of poetry as well as prose and essays, from whom one is not allowed to see the works either. The manuscripts are in the classic drawer. I find that sad.

19 paintings with the same number of expressions. This is how you can describe the art exhibition at Röstånga tourist office with artists who are being developed in Susanne Jardeback Olesen’s two studios.

“In the studio outside Ask, a joint journey of discovery takes place with different painting techniques. Here, it is not only the traditional brush that applies, but also rags, palette knives, scraping tools, fingers, and more “, it says in a press release.

– Several of them are artists today and have come a long way and exhibited themselves, but still choose to stay here. It gives a lot these days, says Susanne Jardeback Olesen. – It’s not just about the painting, but also about the joy of being together.

Color & Shape in Gallery Ekbacken in Bonnarp

Who has not scribbled on the phone, scribbled textbooks full or scribbled aimlessly on the napkin at the coffee table? Cluttered on what is closest in the team of happy friends? The pen often goes away whether you want to or not. The result is mostly crumpled up in the trash after a smiling distracted look at the trash cans.

Susanne Jardeback Olesen – Nobel artist, course leader, lecturer and mentor lets her students / friends take advantage of the material as an incentive for continued creation. The energy is given an extra boost by the natural group dynamics and closeness that have emerged during their art meetings, where the individual creative desire can flow freely towards common goals.

The course participants may transfer the colors and shapes or motif on the piece of paper that has been distributed for several years, change or refine it on watercolor paper in black and brown. Some continue the process, producing the acrylic or oil paints and creating new ones with the “cloth” as a basis.

At Galleri Ekbacken, eleven brushstrokes from three courses are exhibited together with the artist, leader and mentor Susanne Jardeback. This is the second year in a row that the participants are exhibiting at Galleri Ekbacken in Bonnarp, now under the title “Art (igt) in color and form 2.

– Everyone knows everyone. They do not have to stick to a course day or group but can jump into the community at the right times.

Everyone learns from each other and grows. I’m with you, says successful Susanne who, in addition to appreciated exhibitions for decades, has also had the honor of creating a Nobel diploma for several years. Most recently, she has also had the great honorary task of portraying the Nobel Foundation’s permanent secretary Staffan Normark, who has left his “permanent” post.

– I do not want to call myself a teacher without a mentor. It is a great joy to be able to lead forward, push on and see people develop. Everyone must be allowed to keep their own style, take advantage of their special personality and talent. Some want to paint realistically, others abstractly. What we want to achieve in color, shape and focus is highly individual. But mentors are important to develop technology and get answers to all their questions. For my own part, it was Georg Suttner at Gerlesborgsskolan who believed in me, encouraged me and made me dare to move on, says Susanne who is the exhibition commissioner.

– Someone has to keep in touch, sleep among the works to create a whole. In group exhibitions, everyone must take each other into account, learn to take into account – combine benefit with pleasure. Everyone has been involved in the design of opening cards and other marketing, says Susanne and shows us around among stacks of paintings, where each has been allowed to bring six works each. This also applies to the ceramic works that are waiting to be exhibited.

It is an irresistible color splendor that looks forward here and there, but also soft, gentle color schemes have taken place in works with influences from most art directions. Some seek the light, others the stylized expression or why not the naive…

It is creative joy in its true sense.

Among the exhibitors are both hobby painters who have applied, or are on G and managed to get on jury-judged exhibitions.

Gunnel Säflund Almered, one of the gallery’s owners and also a watercolorist with a studio in the room next door, will also hang his watercolors among the exhibitors.

One of the exhibitors we drew attention to last year’s group exhibition and who also participates here – Sarimaria Yrjänä has recently completed an exciting exhibition in Röstånga with paintings in strontium colors in a black painted room!

Another participant is Birgitta Auselius who worked with watercolor and i.a. adorned almanacs with his paintings and who now seeks to develop other techniques under Susanne’s mentoring and leadership.

– This is the most fun I’ve done in my whole life, Birgitta exclaims.

A good and honest rating to the friends and Susanne… The exhibition at Galleri Ekbacken in Bonnarp has a vernissage on Saturday 15 October 12 – 17.

The same opening hours apply to the following exhibition days: 15, 16, 22 and 23 October.

Energy bomb at Galleri Ekbacken in Bonnarp

A real energy bomb in color and form, filled with desire, play and artistic challenges… The group exhibition “Art (igt) in Color and form” presented at Galleri Ekbacken in Bonnarp by the Nobel artist, course leader and friend Susanne Jardeback-Olesen offered an artistic holistic experience of an unexpected kind.

Collective exhibitions are too seldom homogeneous, even if it is merited practitioners who are on the move.

In this exhibition, none of the participants fall out of the box. It shines with well-composed, well-thought-out and colorful works in acrylic, oil and ceramics with personal prints and good craftsmanship. Nevertheless, none of the eight exhibitors, apart from Susanne herself and Gunnel Säflund-Almered, are professionals, although some have persistently trampled on the artistic path for many years.

The artist’s souls are replenished in group dynamics and pedagogical exercises. A task can e.g. be to pick up stuff from an old Ica bag to catch on the canvas. One of the artists who worked in the Cubist became so inspired that he dared to take the step of adding realistic objects to the Cubist environment. Another came loose when he had to go loose and test wet in wet.

To dare, to loosen…

– Together we give birth to energy. New perspectives, often redemptive, arise when we work intensively. A common goal with constantly new challenges, play and hard work… I want to make them grow, see how they land. It is true happiness, says Susanne Jardeback-Olesen.

Susanne herself is working on a prominent honorary assignment right now. Namely, like the old masters, she has had the honor of painting an oil portrait of a prominent person – in this case the Royal Secretary of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences Staffan Normark. She thus seems to go from clarity to clarity on her own after her previous assignments of performing unique Nobel diplomas. Lectures and exhibitions take turns. But Susanne knows what good educators, friendship and community mean for the future development as an artist. Georg Suttner at Gerlesborgsskolan is one of the artists who made her develop and who she sees as a pedagogical role model.

– We have a fantastic community in the group. Even though we are mostly in my studio and garden, we often gather at Gunnel and Lennart Säflund here in Bonnarp – in the studio, the gallery or in the frame workshop.

– Or on the f.d. the manure pile, Gunnel happily interjects. Gunnel is a watercolor painter and holds courses on the subject in the yard while her husband does framing in the frame workshop. In other words, Ekbacken with adjoining courtyards is a fully-fledged creative environment for artist souls – a natural meeting place to exchange experiences in and not least new soulmates in.

And of course there is Galleriet Ekbacken which is a great asset when the group wants to take a holistic approach and show what results they have achieved. The gallery’s tranquil rural appearance and rich light inlet elevate and strengthen both the sublime and explosive, colorful expression.

This exhibition is a small nibbling good explosion of color, where everyone’s personal expression comes into its own. Among the works, a star shines a little brighter, more determined and intense than the other paintings. It is Sarimaria Yrjänä who with her light treatment created shimmering beautiful, atmospheric paintings with an almost magical power effect.

Exhibitors are Susanne Jardback-Olesen, Kerstin Olsson, Helén Stigson, Jonas Ahlqvist, Jörgen Palm, Gunnel Säflund-Almered, Siv Arveled and Sarimaria Yrjänä.

Art (igt) in color and form has a vernissage on Saturday 3 October at Galleri Ekbacken 12 – 17. The same times apply to other opening days: October 4, October 10-11.

She may be the only one in the whole world who creates paintings with a Korean paper made from the bark of the mulberry tree.
